Unity Partnership Events & News

Welcome to the official Unity Partnership blog! This blog reflects events and activities that we sponsor or participate in in support of our mission--including Law Enforcement, Youth Engagement, and Community Outreach.  We occasionally include worthwhile news and opportunities that reinforce our mission. Please browse through these articles to see how we engage with our communities. Our members often participate in events sponsored by other organizations which promote greater cultural awareness and social change.  We will also include links to these events as well.

A very powerful movement on behalf of Ms. Anjanette Young and to ignite police reform. Every woman of color was out there voicing their concerns about the treatment of this African-American woman. We had politicians, community activists, female police officers incognito and black & white men supporting us as well. We won't stop until every woman, man, and child of the African-American race is treated with respect and dignity whether the incidents are right or wrong! We are taxpayers and want a little respect when law enforcement pulls us over for traffic violations, walking, talking or living in our homes, being black. So I want to thank all of those people who attended the march on Chicago Police Department Headquarters because it's African-American women today but it could be other women of color tomorrow. We need change of law enforcement policies that won't allow them to strip our dignity from us. We know there are a majority of police officers all over this country who are good and serve to the best of their ability. I don't know why they allow the bad apples to have a voice louder than theirs. We need law enforcement and yes they should be funded but not at the cost of our lives, not at the cost of injustices and certainly not at the cost of our dignity and self respect as black people. We have paid with free labor on our backs for 400 + years...and now we're paying with our lives at the hands of misfit officers who think they have the right to treat us like animals you hunt down in the woods. So, yes, eliminate "No Knock" and Knock & Announce warrants until they get it right! Our black communities are suffering under this policy...it's devastating our black women, men and children and we want it to stop...NOW!
